A CT heart scan shows even the smallest coronary calcification in the heart, helping to prevent heart disease, the No. 1 cause of death in the United States. The low-dose CT scan takes about 10 minutes and includes a coronary calcium score (which can help predict future heart attacks), a comprehensive report, and a review of the chest images by a radiologist. The report will be sent to you or your physician upon request. According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for both men and women. The high-resolution, low-dose CT lung scan gives more detailed images of the lungs than a chest x-ray and helps detect lung cancer. It is able to show if a tumor has spread to the lymph nodes surrounding the lungs.
